Zimmerman Arrested for Aggravated Assault; Freed on Bail, Ordered to Give Up Weapons

George Zimmerman, the man who killed unarmed African-American teenager Trayvon Martin, has been released on bail one day after his arrest on charges of domestic violence and aggravated assault. Zimmerman’s girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, has accused him of pointing a shotgun at her and trying to choke her. Zimmerman was released on $9,000 bond and ordered to stay away from Scheibe, as well as any of his firearms. He will also have to wear an ankle monitor.

Zimmerman Taken into Custody After Wife Reports Threats, Assault on Father

George Zimmerman was taken into custody in Florida Monday following a panicked 911 call from his wife, Shellie, who told a dispatcher Zimmerman had assaulted her father and made threats with a gun.

Shellie Zimmerman: “He’s in his car and he continually has his hand on his gun and he keeps saying, ‘step closer.’ He’s just threatening all of us with his firearm.”

Dispatcher: “Step closer and what?”

Shellie Zimmerman: “And he’s going to shoot us.”

Dispatcher: “OK.”

Shellie Zimmerman: “He punched my dad in the nose; he has a mark on his face. I saw his glasses were on the floor. He accosted my father and then took my iPad and smashed it and cut it with a pocketknife. I don’t know what he is capable of. I’m really scared.”

Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce last week. Police said she later denied seeing a firearm and opted not to press charges. The incident comes less than two months after George Zimmerman was acquitted in the fatal shooting of unarmed African-American teenager Trayvon Martin last year.

Zimmerman getting divorced

Zimmerman getting divorced

Well another marriage bites the dust. Thursday, Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce from murder George Zimmerman. Shellie’s attorney’s confirmed with CNN reporters that the official paperwork was filed yesterday, and George Zimmerman’s douchebag brother also tweeted the news:

According to Shellie’s atty Kelly Sims – Shellie is preparing to file 4 divorce. Docs have not yet been filed in Seminole Cty. Pray 4 them.

— Robert Zimmerman JR (@rzimmermanjr) September 5, 2013

Shellie hinted that everything wasn’t so hunky dory in the Zimmerman household in a recent interview Good Morning America she said her marriage was “in jeopardy”. Shellie was sentenced to 12 months of probation last month after she admitted lying to a judge about their finances during her husband’s bail hearing in June 2012. Kill a boy get off scott free, commit perjury because you’re trying to stand by your man, you get a year of probation.

She said in an interview after her conviction for perjury that she felt he had “beaten down her self-esteem” and that she was no longer sure if she wanted to remain married. I wonder if the fact that her own husband didn’t attend her sentencing had anything to do with it.

From HLN:

She said she would “have to think about” staying in the marriage, and expressed guilt and regret regarding her actions following Martin’s death in February 2012. She recently pleaded guilty to perjury for lying about the state of her family’s finances during a bond hearing in April 2012. She had claimed she and her husband were broke, when in reality they had collected about $135,000 in donations.

“I can rationalize a lot of reasons for why I was misleading, but the truth is I knew I was lying,” Shellie Zimmerman told ABC. “I wish a lot things were different. I can’t tell you how many times I have laid at night saying ‘God, I wish these circumstances had been different.’”

Zimmerman also said the publicity around the polarizing trial forced her and her husband to live in constant fear.

“I think we have been pretty much like gypsies,” she said in the ABC interview. “We lived in a 20-foot trailer in the woods scared every night that someone was going to find us and that we’d be out in the woods alone and that it would be horrific.”

So what does George Zimmerman think about all of this? Who knows, he’s too busy getting pulled over for speeding. I’m counting down for a Shellie Zimmerman tell all book.

Preparation Rally for 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington

We as a people, my black brothas and sistas that is, cannot rely on a system that was not built for us. We must make this so-called justice system work for us. Corrupt system ran by white devil’s who I hope to see their own judgment day after last breath is taken… The almighty God sure does make things to be one sided… This is the naked ugly truth about this country and lands beyond. Black lives mean nothing in the face of the white man & his tamed woman.

Justice for Trayvon Martin in the New Jim Crow era

Justice for Trayvon Martin in the New Jim Crow era

In the midst of the George Zimmerman case for the killing of Trayvon Martin, I being a Black Woman can’t help but feel a great amount of fury. If the circumstances were turned and Trayvon had been a white boy, there would be no pause in the prosecution.

Some think we are living in a post-racist society, the truth is racism, sexism and classism still fuels this country. We must never forget, the United States was created on the terrorism by white men against the natives, they stole, killed and raped the natives of their land and people.

Then we were brought here to work as slaves, our women to be raped and used as birthing vessels. To build this country we are so deprived of…

As long as man practices hate, greediness and counter intuitive laws, this country will never be right. The ellusion of a justice system for all is blinding to those miscued.

George Zimmerman Murder Trial Opens with Profanity, Knock-Knock Joke

George Zimmerman Murder Trial Opens with Profanity, Knock-Knock Joke

The second-degree murder trial of George Zimmerman for killing unarmed African-American teenager Trayvon Martin has opened in Florida. During opening statements Monday, attorneys on each side cast conflicting views of Zimmerman’s motives on the night of the shooting last February. Prosecutor John Guy said Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, had profiled the 17 year-old as suspicious and chose to assume the role of a police officer and follow him. He quoted Zimmerman’s own expletive-laced words to a dispatcher.

John Guy: “Good Morning. ‘F—ing punks. These a—holes always get away.’ Those were the words in that grown man’s mouth as he followed, in the dark, a 17-year-old boy who he didn’t know. Excuse my language, but those were his words, not mine.”

These were prosecutor John Guy’s concluding remarks at the end of his opening statement Monday.

John Guy: “We are confident that at the end of this trial you will know in your head, in your heart and your stomach that George Zimmerman did not shoot Trayvon Martin because he had to. He shot him for the worst of all reasons: because he wanted to.”

Defense lawyer Don West argued that Zimmerman killed Martin because he feared for his life after the teenager smashed Zimmerman’s head on the sidewalk, which he suggested constituted a deadly weapon. West told a knock-knock joke toward the beginning of his remarks, a move for which he later apologized.

Don West: “Knock, knock, who’s there? George Zimmerman. George Zimmerman who? All right good, you’re on the jury. Nothing? (audience laughs) That’s funny.”
