Arizona Cardinals Patrick Peterson Becomes The Highest Paid Corner back In The League

After reports were release back in May that the Seattle Seahawks player Richard Sherman had become the highest paid cornerback in the league with a new 4 year contract extension worth $65 million, Cleveland Brown’s Joe Haden quickly stole the shine a week later by announcing his 5 year contract extension which was worth $68 million. While Haden was able to hold onto that title for the past 2 ½ months, he will now be one upped by fellow NFL corner back Patrick Peterson.

After negotiating since February, last night the Arizona Cardinals released a statement announcing a contract extension with Patrick Peterson. Although the team’s announcement did not specify the pay, Peterson followed up via Twitter with a statement of his own stating that the deal is worth $70 million, with $48 million guaranteed-making Peterson the highest paid cornerback in the NFL. The 5 year contract extension will end in 2020. Patrick originally signed a 4 year contract with undisclosed terms back in 2011 after being selected 5th overall in the draft pick. It was reported this morning that Peterson received a $15.3 million signing bonus.

Christians Threαten Boycott, Demand That Aaron McGruder’s “Black Jesus” be Canceled

20140718-222031-80431411
(Creator of Boondocks) Aaron McGruder’s “Black Jesus” hasn’t even aired and already Christians are up in arms, demanding that the show be canceled. The Christian activist network One Million Moms and a flurry of pastors have taken offense at the character.

In the show, Black Jesus lives in Compton, California and goes on a “daily mission to spread love and kindness throughout the neighborhood with the help of his small but loyal group of downtrodden followers.”

David A. Rogers, pastor of the House of Prayer for All Nations Ministries in Chicago, Illinois, calls the show “utter foolishness and disrespectful” and wrote a letter to the Turner Broadcasting system expressing his outrage.

OF COURSE WE WOULD THESE CRAZY ASS WHITE RELIGIOUS POEPLE EXPRESSING DISGUST FOR THE SHOW. Would it be better if Jesus lived in South Dakota and were portrayed as the stringy haired, pale face and blue eyed image that has poisoned the minds of so many?

Aaron McGruder is not one of these who conforms to White America’s definition of a patriotic citizen. Mr. McGruder knows of the lies taught across United States lands in our history classes. He knows the lies told on mainstream TV about foreign affairs and governmental hypocrisy.

To the religious people out there who don’t question much or anything – I hope one day your minds will be open to the truth. There is a God | Higher Being(s) as we cannot be that is all. But, we don’t know all the answers, and that is the beauty of life.

Candles are seen at the memorial of Garner in Staten Island

The funeral was held in New York City for Eric Garner, an African-American father of six who died after police placed him in a chokehold. Police say they confronted Garner because he was selling bootleg cigarettes. Graphic video of the incident shows an officer pulling Garner to the ground by the neck and then holding his head against the pavement. As other officers crowd on top of Garner, he repeatedly says, “I can’t breathe.” Garner soon stops moving. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. On Wednesday, Bishop Kareem Evans addressed mourners at Brooklyn’s Bethel Baptist Church.

“This is an awesome task because Brother Eric is not only a friend, but he is family. Not only is he family, but he is one that you consider close family.”

The officer who used the chokehold, Daniel Pantaleo, has been moved to desk duty and ordered to turn in his badge and gun pending investigations. Three men have sued Pantaleo in the past two years for unlawful, racially motivated arrests. The New York City Police Department says it also plans to overhaul training procedures in the wake of Garner’s death. Four emergency response workers who were at the scene have been suspended without pay.

An executive order banning workplace discrimination against LGBT people employed by the federal government or firms with federal contracts.

President Obama: “It doesn’t make much sense, but today in America millions of our fellow citizens wake up and go to work with the awareness that they could lose their job, not because of anything they do or fail to do, but because of who they are: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender. And that’s wrong.”

The order will reportedly impact about 28 million workers.

Over 600 Palestinians Dead as Israeli Siege

The Palestinian death toll in Gaza has topped 600 as the Israeli siege has entered its third week. Most of those killed are civilians; more than 100 are children. Israel says it has lost 27 soldiers since the ground invasion began last week. Earlier today, Israel confirmed the remains of one of its soldiers presumed to have been killed in Gaza had still not been found. Hamas has said it captured the soldier. Meanwhile, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is due to arrive in Israel to push for a ceasefire. Earlier today, Ban met in Cairo with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Egyptian officials and leaders from the Arab League. We will go to Gaza for more on the crisis after headlines.

Migrant Children’s Plight

191b96c0-7bc1-4131-9bad-be06a89c705a
The House Judiciary Committee’s June 25 hearing was supposed to be about the recent surge in the numbers of unaccompanied child migrants from Central America who are arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border. Had this really been the subject of the hearing, the topic of escalating gang violence in Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador would have been front and center—as would the issue of how best to help children who have been seriously traumatized by both their journeys and conditions in their home countries. Yet, thanks to some who sit on the committee and those seated at the witness table, getting at the heart of these matters was like pulling teeth.

It was also telling that, behind the witness table, only one person—Rev. Mark J. Seitz, Bishop of the Diocese of El Paso—returned the discussion to the point where it should have been all along. He talked about the violence and terror fomented in Central American cities by gangs. He described how parents make an agonizing decision to place their children in the hands of a smuggler, and subject them to a possibly fatal journey northward, because that is the best choice among terrible alternatives. He said that unaccompanied minors apprehended at the border should be placed in child-friendly shelters as quickly as possible, and should be appointed both legal counsel and case workers.

Listen to Mumia Abu Jamal’s commentary on this issue:
http://uprisingradio.org/home/2014/07/15/mumia-abu-jamal-when-children-are-the-enemy/

Nearly 60,000 children mostly from Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala have arrived in the US since last October. Many of them are being held in facilities as President Obama and the governors of border states struggle to find a politically acceptable solution.

A close look into the reason why these children take this long and dangerous journey is written in the book “Enrique’s Journey” by Sonia Nazario, based on a series of prize winning reports she wrote for the LA Times. Enrique’s Journey has been published in eight languages and has been adopted by 54 universities and scores of high schools nationwide.

The people of Murrieta, Ca and other places, white America – are fighting to keep these children and their parents out of this country in the only way they know how to – through racism. It is quite pitiful to see that these descendants of Europe who’s ancestor’s were the true terrorists of this land and others beyond, think this is their land… Go back to your homeland white man I say to those who know not how to live amongst the natives of this country.
